Brushed Aluminium – Photoshop
This is a basic tutorial of how to create a Brushed Aluminium Effect in Photoshop.
The effect in this tutorial would fit great into the background of a site, for using to create an attractive signature for your forum posts, anything you can really think of. Please feel free to leave your comments on the tutorial as it will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Ok, so start off by creating a New Blank Document by going to File > New…

Next, change the foreground colour to #CECECE as seen in the screenshot below:

Next we’re going to add an effect to the page called noise. To do this, from the menu bar Click Filter > Noise > Add Noise… and use the settings as shown in the picture below:

Now Go to the menu bar again, and this time we’re going to blur the photo, to do this click Filter > Blur > Motion Blur…. See diagram Below:

We will now Crop the image to get rid the sides where the image didn’t quiet blur properly. See screenshot Below:

Now to give the image a finishing touch, we will add a gradient to it. To do this, we must first turn the background layer into an editable layer. Right click on background in the layers tab to the left, and select Layer From Background…

Now proceed to add a gradient by right clicking the new layer, and selecting Blending Options. Make your gradient look similar to the 1 in the screenshot below:

Make the style of the gradient as shown below:

Click Ok and your Brushed Aluminium should look like this 1 here. The finished product.

If so, congratulations, you now know how to make brushed aluminium with photoshop. If not… Please review the tutorial again and make sure you have done as I have done.
